Roll-off containers in Oxford

Oxford sits three miles up Emory Street from our yard, close enough that a morning delivery here rarely costs anyone a wasted day. It is also a town where you cannot simply drop a container wherever there is a flat spot. The streets around Oxford College run narrow with mature hardwoods arching over them, and the low branches stop more deliveries in this town than tight driveways ever do. We ask about overhead clearance on every Oxford booking before the truck is loaded.

What makes Oxford different

The housing splits cleanly into two jobs. Around the old college square and along Wesley Street and Fletcher Street you are working with nineteenth-century homes, which means plaster, heart pine, board sheathing and dense demolition debris that reaches a weight limit while the container still looks two-thirds empty. Out toward the GA-81 side the subdivisions are newer and the debris is bulkier and lighter, so volume is the constraint instead. Oxford is inside Newton County, which matters more than most customers expect: the county landfill on Lower River Road takes Newton County waste only, and a hauler has to be able to document that the load originated here. Being genuinely local is not a marketing line in this county, it is a disposal requirement.

Questions & Answers

Dumpster rental in Oxford: common questions

Can you fit a roll-off on an Oxford street with all the tree cover?

Often yes, but the size has to suit the site. Raising a container to tip it takes roughly 23 feet of clear air above the truck, and several streets near the college do not offer that under the oaks. A 10 or 15 yard needs less room to manoeuvre than a 30. Send a photo looking up from the drop spot when you call and we will tell you before we dispatch rather than after.

Do I need a permit for a dumpster in Oxford?

Not on your own driveway or private property. If the container has to sit on an Oxford street or in the public right-of-way, contact Oxford City Hall first — the city handles its own right-of-way approvals separately from Covington, and we will not place a container on a public street without confirmation that it has been cleared.

Where does debris from an Oxford job actually end up?

Oxford is in Newton County, so general mixed waste goes to the Newton County Landfill on Lower River Road. Clean loads of concrete, brick, metal and untreated wood are pulled and handled separately where the volume justifies it, because those materials cost less to move than mixed debris does.
